Edenvale Classic Aircraft Foundation – Fleet Cornell

A military training aircraft, the Fairchild PT-19 had its first flight on May 15, 1939, and 23 countries operated them. The PT-26 variant was used by the RCAF and was called the Fleet Cornell. Fleet Aircraft Ltd. built Cornells in Canada in Fort Erie starting in 1942. 1555 were used by the RCAF between 1942 and 1948 for Basic Pilot Training of Allied pilots in the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, and RCAF pilots postwar. The Fleet Cornell is the third biggest aircraft fleet the RCAF ever operated. Proudly flown by Shawn Clish, a Canadian pilot with a passion for preserving our aviation heritage, this Fleet Cornell was acquired by the Edenvale Classic Aircraft Foundation—a volunteer-run organization keeping these amazing stories alive at the Edenvale Aerodrome.
